Default Cost effective performance upgrades for '99 UK WRX?

Posting this on behalf of my brother.

He's got a 99 UK Spec WRX and is looking to improve the performance. He's just upgraded the suspension and found himself with a spare £400.
Given this initial budget, what would people recommend as the best bang-for-buck?

Thanks

Rob

There's no such thing as a "99 UK spec WRX" Rob. The only WRXes around back then were, by definition, foreign market models. The UK car of that era is known as an Impreza Turbo 2000 AWD - is that what he's got?

If so, it's difficult to comment given that you haven't mentioned exactly what the suspension upgrades involve. However £400 could buy an adjustable rear anti-roll bar and some good front brake pads. Or it could buy some knock/AFR monitoring kit, a good boost gauge and a Dawes Device. Or it could be saved until he's got about £600 to play with and shoved into a custom remap.

Tell us more about the car's current level of modification and your brother's aims and it'll be easier to comment.

Default Ooops

My bad - it must be a Turbo 2000 AWD.

Not sure of the suspension changes, I'll have to ask him.

He's been talking about de-catting, induction kits and a larger intercooler and was wondering what the best combination would be for around the £400 mark.

Thanks

Rob

Without wanting to state the obvious have you tried using the Search button at all?

Again as you haven't actually described the current state of modification it's difficult to comment, but, to address the points above, an induction kit is the last thing he should put on his car, and there's nothing to be gained from fitting a larger intercooler if the standard boost level is being maintained. Even then the standard one will more than deal with the power development capacity of the standard turbo.

A decat downpipe/full decat will help output a bit. As above there's plenty already written so Search will help you out a lot.
