Default Unknown Plug Next To ECU?

Hi there

I have a 93 wrx impreza, i was looking to see if the ecu was chipped and found this black box with 4 wires coming out of it near the ecu, can anyone tell me what it is?, the car does have a clifford 650 alarm, could it be for the alarm?

looks like a fuel cut defender so you can run a bit more boost, i would take that **** off and set your boost.

what number pins is it connected to.
the black and red arew power just what pin the green and yellow are going to.

Some do, some don't. Someone posted on here the other day with a non-adjustable one.

If it's an FCD you can't simply cut all the wires. The red and black can be severed and insulated as these will be power supply and ground but the other two are likely to be spliced into the signal wire from the pressure sensor. As such simply cutting them will remove the pressure signal from the ECU completely and trigger limp mode and the check engine light.

It will be easier for us to help you if you can post a better picture showing how (and to what colour wires)) the green and yellow leads to the box are spliced into the ECU.

If you will cut these two wires you will likely have to connect the two ends of the ECU loom together to return it to normal operation. Post a close-up (or tell us the colours of the wires that the green & yellow connect to) and it'll be easier to advise you.

Incidentally, if this is next to your ECU, have you checked under the bonnet to see how the boost control is being done? FCDs (if that is what this is) are normally accompanied by a pressure release valve, bleed valve or other manual type of boost controller.

when i brought the car 2 weeks back it had a bleed valve on it, this is the 1st thing i took off as i hate them and the ecu isnt chipped and i put it bk using the factory boost soilnoid and it ran 0.8 bar as should if im right.

i been in the car and checked wat pins the wires go to

All go to connector B43

Yellow And Green Go To Pin 4

Red Pin 4

Black Pin 11

I presume there's a typo there - you've got red, yellow *and* green going to pin4 which is clearly impossible.

I'm not "up" on the pinout config for that ECU, but a point of clarity above. When you say that yellow and green go to the same pin, do you mean that they are both connected to the wire going into the pin, but the wire's been cut, and one of the wires is connected to the ECU side of it and the other's going to the loom to the engine?

If so, it's the two ends of that wire you need to connect back to each other. Red and black will be power supply and ground and, as I said earlier, can be removed and their tails insulated.

sorry red goes to pin 2 lol my mistake.

yes ur right, the original wires been cut and green goes to ecu side and yellow loom side.

looking on the jollygreen site it says pin 4 is pressure sensor.

Yes, had assumed that those two wires were interrupting the pressure signal. As above then, to remove this (and it *is* an FCD/boost clamp type device), remove/cut the red and black wires, insulating the ends, and then join the wire going to pin 4 back to itself, with a good soldered joint. Insulate it and you're done.
