Default My mates v4 sti only starts with 2 cyliners

My mate had blown his engine in his sti and he replaced with another v4 sti engine, connected everything up and it turns over but its only running on 2 cylinders ( the drivers side are fine) , we have a spark from all 4 ht leads from the coil pack and compression check on each of the two cylinders that arent working is around about 150,

Does any one know whats up with it or what he should be looking out for, could it be blown headgasket.

Thanks

Are the plugs on the "dead" side of the engine getting wet?

yeah it is getting fuel to that side of the engine, we have checked and it is spitting!
Woul a dodgy coil pack cause an issue like this as it seems strange that it just doesnt seem to want to turn over on that side

cheers

Injector leads wrong way round? i.e front and back

was the engine taken apart before fitting for a new belt?

no the engine wasnt taken apart but the manifold was bought seperately so that was bolted on ,
i took the injector lead off on of them an put it in the other ( but not to both just one of them) to see whether it would make a diference but it didnt, should i do it to both to see if it is that?

did you see the doner engine running before the swap, i'm thinking it could be headgasket, but the compression test seems ok, having said that my gaskets went on my wrx yet the compression was showing in the green band as ok,
