Wastegate Advice Please!
Hi All,
I hope someone can help with this as I'm a bit stuck..
I have a 99 Turbo 2000 that rather urgently needs an MOT but has only a decatted exhaust fitted.
I happen to have a cat/downpipe section from a 95 WRX that I think I can fit (enough for mot purposes anyway) but it doesn't have any provision for the wastegate/diverter valve/screamer pipe etc. By no provision I mean that it will completely block the wastegate..
It also doesn't have the correct location for the lambda sensor but I'm pretty handy with a welder so I'm confident that can be fixed.
My question is;
If I fit this exhaust and drive it sensibly to the MOT station am I going to have any problems (overboost/turbo damage etc)?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Dennis

Don't introduce any boost whatsoever and all should be fine.
Even during the emissions test no boost should be reached to bother the wastegate as they shouldn't exceed fast idle speed (circa 2.5-3k rpm)
Only thing i'd be worried about is when the tester has to take it for a spin to do a brake test, can't go on rollers due to AWD, as he may be tempted to give it a little.
Good luck
