Default Head Gasket Gone,Cracked Head,Need Help!

as mentioned in title my head has cracked on my year 2000 uk turbo classic,i'm no mechanic but i know it's not going to be a cheap fix,cant decide weather to fix or just replace engine,does anyone know how compatable jdm engines are with uk cars and the sort of costs are involved in the conversion or the cost of replacing the head,just looking for some advice as i'm not sure which way to go,thanks

not sure yet,only recived the news today through a answer phone message of the mechanic,going to have a look at it tomorrow,should know more detail then

I just re read the title of your post and realised it was the head gasket you were talking about
So ignore that stuff I wrote earlier..if you read it

I think you need to think what you want to do with the car long term. Do want more power? do you want to mod it? do you want to throw some money at it or not?

my advice would be before making a decision get an understanding of why the headgasket went, where the crack in the head or heads is/are and also understand if the cracks have had any contribution to the gasket failure. It is very comon for the heads to develop cracks around the spark plug threads running out toward the valve seats, these would not normally cause or effect gasket failure. A pressure check would be the best way to help ascertain this.
