Car overheated today, now engine management light is on !!
Left my car idling today while I popped into a shop (my mrs was still in the car) came back and drove off and noticed steam coming from under my bonnet ! Switched it off and had a look and there was coolant p155ing out from the container !
Thing I noticed aswell was that the fans hadn't kicked in either ???? Immediately thought it was the fuse so I checked that and, NO, it wasn't that !! Thinking it could be the thermostat in the rad possibly? But so soon after a service, i.e; last week? And now, the engine management light is stuck on telling me there is a problem, obviously caused by this!
I tried to call Steve from Northants Subaru (who serviced the car) but couldn't get him, to see if he had encountered any probs with it during the service or if he had changed something. Will wait for him to call me back but meanwhile....any ideas please ?????

did you have the cambelt changed? if so i'd check the fans are plugged in if they are not then i'd get it checked out incase the excessive heat has done the headgaskets

Not worked on one as new as yours but i should imagine same as a classic that there are 2 plugs on the bottom of the rad.Should be quite obvious if they are not attached with a quick glance. If subaru have failed to attach the fans then they owe you a rebuild i reckon!

Checked and the fans weren't plugged in but I can only reach one plug! I still haven't managed to get hold of Steve but when I do I will take it up to him to get the fault light reset and to check that it has done no lasting damage, and also to plug the other fan in!
