Default 3" turbo back system fitted today problem

hi guys this is my first time i have posted on here and would like to say hi to all of you and thanks for taking the time to read my problem.

today i fitted a full turbo back decat 3" system on my 03 plate wrx with in 20 miles the engine warning light came on.. i know its the rear o2 sensor coursing it to come on..

my question is does anyone know how to bypass it? can i just take the sensor out of the exhaust flow and bung the hole up as there is a bung in the kit to do this? really really appreciate any feedback kind regards john

No ! It needs a re-map to :-

1. free up some much wanted power...
2. Alter the values the ecu reads as an error
3. Sensor is used as a fail-safe for the first sensor IIRC

HTH

Ideally no, but it should run in limp home mode that will restrict to 0.5 bar (although mine doesn't seem to) but if the lambda readings are out then potentially your fuelling is out and both too rich and too lean, especially on boost, will bring their own problems. As Dunx said the ECU needs to be rescaled to suit the changes.

yes ! I did, it's just the ecu whinging that the cat efficiency isn't within expected limits ( on the garage floor )

Just don't thrash the thing.

I used JGM for mine, but OS mapping is around half the price....

dunx

P.S. Mine only came on driving steadily on the M62. If I drove it medium hard it didn't come on at all.

My mrs is exactly the same, it's always my fault. Bob Rawle is in Swindon, JGM does a mobile service, but you'll pay for that. Easier to let us know where you are and we can point you in the direction of a local (recommended) mapper

Only a guess, but that could be because it should run richer on boost, so there is greater tolerances in the lambda scaling

The battery thing only works on classics, the later ECUs need to be flashed to clear them.

Off the top of my head Zen is in the East Midlands (Kettering way), but I can't think of anyone in the West Midlands. I know ABP motorsport deal with Subarus but I don't know if they map. They're about 45 minutes up the A41 from Telford.

cheers for that do you think i am ok honstely to drive it as it is 45 mile? i just dont want to do any damage . i dont know exactly what it would damage mind. im new to all this tuning stuff but realising its not as simple as i thought i was not told when purchasing the exhaust i would have to remap the car i was just told it would add 35 bhp.

just don't want to wreck my baby lads

Drive it steady and you'll be fine, just don't redline it all over the place. Out of curiosity, what exhaust did you get? With a full decat, intercooler, flowed manifold and a remap I'm only expecting about a 60bhp boost on my WRX so 35bhp just fitting an exhaust seems optomistic

The car will be fine, not so sure about the exhaust - I paid £100 more than that just for a decent decat and centre pipe.

The same seller is offering this...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-IMPREZA...item5d284105a8

A good turbo of that design/size will give between 330 and 350bhp, no more. His claims are a bit wild.

I was told that the reason my CEL came on at cruise was because the ecu was trying maximise mpg, but "sees" an incorrect voltage, due to the cat being in the garage....

P.S. Just going to work and back is fine, racing Saxos & Corsas is a no no
