Default Improved diesel performance

Can anyone suggest a technical reason why the performance of my Legacy tdi should have improved after a 750 mile trip towing a trailer? It's now done about 7500 miles and definitely pulls better after the trip. I thought at first it was just a 'feel', partly down to having removed the load of the trailer, but the more I drive it the more convinced I am that it is really performing better than it was.

Most cars will improve with a few more miles under their belt, just everything has loosened up now

I thought it might be something to do with working the engine harder with the additional weight, but who knows?! Well, somebody no doubt does, but I don't! I understand that diesels are supposed to benefit from hard work though.

Engine is now getting run in, at that low mileage it shouldn't be surprising. Given the general lifespan of modern diesels, I would expect it to be even better with some more miles under the belt.

My two year old Legacy Tourer is now on 65000 and seems to get better and better.
My opinion diesels need to work hard and reaps benefits all round.

Most DPF problems on all modern diesels result from lack of use and pootling round/stop start use etc.

If you dont use it you lose it type of thing.

Basically i think your engine is loosening up and from my experience has still a way to go.

You should notice the MPG improve as you put the miles on. Hopefully!!!!

The news just keeps getting better! I'm already happy with 44mpg (and 27 with the trailer), and I don't tend to have a light right foot. Such a difference from the RB320 (22mpg on a good day) although, of course, the RB was a much different car.
