Default Any good engine builders in the south?

My head gasket has now gone on my94 wrx and im looking at a forged rebuild but i dont know of any good companys in the south to do the work.

Could you guys please let me know which companys who are based in the south who would do a forged rebuild and have a good reputation?

The closer to west sussex the better.
Cheers for any help.

It would be hard for me to drop the car off as i will need to put it on a trailer and tow the car there as the head gasket has gone on it.So the closer the better really but if i have to tow the car all the way to Plymouth to get a good rebuild at a decent price then i will.

right you have subaru 4 you in newbury , you have triton motorsports in Bournemouth and they built mine and it running reasonable power 390bhp in an open deck block, has been for the last two years they do mapping there as well and have rollers and i will say this they treat every customer well and will put there hands up and sort it out if there is a problem which goes a long way in my books because at the end of the day were all humans and humans make mistakes all of us even the roger Clarkes of the world but if you can get it down for the 2.1 at engine tuner you will have a big old smile thats if only i new that two years ago id be running 450bhp now dam but im still smiling : >

If you want to stay in the South, you could give Paul at Extreme Scoobies a ring.

You might like to speak to David at APi as well. They're based in Warrickshire, but will send a trailer down to pick up your car.

Word of advice: Take it to somewhere reputable (most - if not all- of the above are well known and respected on here), not cheap: get the job done right first time, pay once!

Cant reccomend David at APi highly enough, 01926 614522 he knows his stuff, and talks the talk, but can walk the walk , hes got my car at the moment, doing a partial rebuild due to a piston failure, just so nice to talk to someone who knows so much about these, and he sent down a trailor to collect mine ..

Im going to get the rebuild done at engineturner.Im going to phone alan tomorrow and get it booked up for next week if i can.I can now see its well worth traveling the bit extra to get the job done the right the first time round, plus alan said he can send a trailer to pick my car up.

Cheers for all the advise.

I would avoid subaru4u... if for no other reason than I think S4U Len is a complete ****!!

A couple of years ago I was asking about his 2.5 litre forged build. His development car had just inexplicably let go a few weeks prior to my MOT visit. A bolt had broken or something. Anyway, suddenly he said to me (and I quote) “you are a time wasting tire kicker”!

I had used him for MOT’s and mail order bits & pieces for the previous 3 years (I do my own maintenance) and was asking lots of questions about his forged engines .... as you naturally would when you are contemplating spending a 5 figure sum on a car. So that was that.

Then one day I rattled my big end and of course Subaru4U Len was the last person I was going to call!!!

I went to Dave at API for my forged 2.5 and 6 speed conversion.. Top bloke. Can’t recommend him enough. Friendly staff. Now Dave gets all my business.... including servicing.

+1 for API Dave!

yep i would also have to say enginetuner too, they done my engine rebuild at then end of last year, they also arrange for a recover vehicle to pick my car up for £80, Alan Jeffry and his crew know subaru engines very well.

From everything I've read, I have absolutely no doubt that Enginetuner do a great job, but, just so someone sticks up for them, so do S4U.

I imagine every company has the odd customer they don't satisfy for whatever reason, and I'm sure most have a skeleton or 2 in the cupboard, but everyone I know who've used S4U have nothing but praise for them
