code 32?
hi all, being a paranoid new owner, i thought i would do a diagnostic test. the car (95 wagon euro spec) was running fine and the cel was not on but i thought i would check anyway. i got two codes- 11 which is the crank pos sensor and 32 which is the a/f system. what should i be looking for when i get this code(32)? cheers for any help

If everything appears to be running ok, (i.e. A consistent & steady hot / cold idle speed, coupled with a smooth & jerk free acceleration when on boost) then I wouldn't start worrying just yet about the codes that are logged in your ecu as they could have been introduced by the previous owner disconnecting a sensor whilst the ign was on
I personally would have a look here: (http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.p.../ECUReset#toc3) and follow the instructions on how to clear the fault codes that are stored in your ecu...You can then start with a clean sheet as such & see if any codes re-appear in the coming weeks.

thanks for the reply, i did a reset and then went for a drive (15 miles) pretty steady, a couple short blasts and checked for codes and got the ok, flash on/off reading. will check again in a couple of days. if i get the 32 again i have found out it might be the o2 sensor, is there anything else that would give this code?

Things can get a little tricky though if multiple codes are logged.. A failure of one component can lead to the incorrect logging of several codes.
For example, a failure of the airflow meter would have several effects on the way the engine runs, one of these would be to upset the idle speed, making it rough & erratic. This would make it impossible for the idle speed motor to produce a consistent idle. The ecu in this case would log a fault with both the airflow meter & the idle speed motor when only one fault is present.

update
After resetting the ecu i went out for a drive, about 10 miles, checked the codes and got the ok flashing. Have now done about 200 miles since and on checking the ecu today i have code 32 again. I am new to the impreza but the car seems to drive ok. What would be the symptoms of a code 32? can i check the o2 sensor or is it a case of straight replacement?
Where i live there are no other scooby owners nevermind specialists! so all input is really helpfull. Has anyone found a "this is how an impreza engine works" guide ? or am i going to be stuck searching scoobynet forever more?lol
cheers all
