i recently got a new engine and ecu in my wagon i was meant to get a z4 ec but mine has the marking 3B i guess i never got a z4 then is this correct as it would say Z4

 

3b is a 240ps ecu with version 2 classic wagon's running a td04 turbo i believe, z4 with a td05

 

3b is actually a 220ps ecu for the td04. you need to check what turbo is now fitted.
td04 or td05.

 

the turbo is a td05 i just checked it out

 

that 3b ecu is no good then, you need one of these.
U8, 2C, W6, W9 - 1993/1994 WRX - 11.47psi (240 ps)
Z4 - 1995/1996 WRX - 12.78psi (260ps)

your car will feel much quicker when you get rid of the 3b

3B - 10psi, dropping to 6.8psi

It was removed from my96 JDM WRX which was the 260ps version running a TD05 turbo (the car was running fine - just gone to a Simtek) Gareth

 

Or there's the "ultra rare" MY96 STi v.2 "6K" one which is 275PS (271bhp).
