Hi, I put some new headers on my scoob the other week and couldnt get the lambda out of the old ones so fitted a universal o2 sensor. When I started the car i had cel for lambda heater so presumed the cheap sensor was crap. I have just fitted a new one today but every time i try turning the cel off it comes straight back on with the same fault code. Any help would be appreciated
hi mate, i havnt changed my sensor but had this fault.. so i assume faulty sensor? i had cel light on and everytime it was reset on diagnostic it popped back up..
anyway car ran the same, no problems, so ignored it while looking for a sensor..
took the car to Duncan (racedynamix) for a map tweak plus launch control and he checked it over, and he said the car runs spot on and disabled the light for me ..he advised i take the sensor out and blank it off..
which is what ive done.. i'm sure you could do the same if the car is running right? been 1000 miles since the blanking, car runnings perfect and not noticed any difference.
cheers
Eddy

not yet mate, the universal ones dont work, ive tried 2 now. It has to be an oe one but they are 270 quid. Trying to find a used one but not having much luck
We are using universal oxygen sensors regularly and have no problems.
The ones we use are from Bosch and come from Andrew Page Motor Factors.
Cost varies depending on which sensor it is but about £50 - £70 and we have fitted these to everything from MY 93 to MY 05.

bought one from andrew page and it doesnt work on mine, im pretty sure it can only be the sensor because car was fine before. only reason ive had to replace is because i couldnt get the old one out of the origional headers
If it is Bosch and properly wired there is no reason it should not work. What makes you think yours is not working? We have actually invested in a Lambda sensor extraction and repair kit to replace damaged boss, or retap old boss. I know you are 70 miles away but we can sort it if you are stuck but need your model and year in advance.

Got cel light, every time I turn it off it comes back with same fault code after 5 seconds. Its not a bosch one they have supplied me with, its a capricorn. Would not be supprised if its not the right one for my car because the guy on the phone didnt really seem to know what he was on about.
I can only tell you that we only use the Bosch ones. Sometimes the plugs are not interchangeable and we have to wire ourselves to the vehicle harness and that involves getting the wires right. The Lambda sensor consists of either 3 or 4 wires. Two to run the heating element, one being earth, one being positive and one wire or two wires for the signal facility.
