Default 04 WRX - which de-cat up pipe ??

Hi folks,

Wonder if someone could help me out. I am slowly making some mods to my 04 WRX. So far I have done the following:

Ninja sports cat downpipe
De-cat centre section
Racebox back box

Green panel filter
NGK cooler plugs
Uprated fuel pump
STi intercooler with undertray and scoop

My next step was to get a remap but I have been told that I would benefit from replacing the up pipe with a decat pipe first. The thing is I am not sure whether this is the case and if so which to buy. I've seen second hand STi pipes, and loads of others on e-bay. Just wondered if someone could give me a bit of advice. Also, I like to do all of the work myself - how difficult are they to fit ? Do you think I will hit my 275 BHP goal ?

Cheers,

Wilky.

If you want to change it get the STi uppipe, not really needed, but nice to have. Stay clear of the ebay jobbies, they'll rob you of spool.

Not generally worth changing it as you will hit your target without doing it. Will help some though but most don't bother.

Sports cat dp, and decat mid without a remap? Get it mapped buddy, the uppipe would give you slightly better spool and remove the risk of the cat inside it breaking up and doing a number to your turbo/engine. However as master Duncan says (and he should know!) it's not essential.

Yeah no map yet, but to be honest I haven't used the car properly since and I drive like a granny anyway !!!

As for all of the other advice - thanks boys

I was about to buy one and go through the hassle of fitting one but if there is no point I won't bother !!!!
