Default TYPE R DILEMMA-vf24 v vf35

Hi guys, basically I've got a v4 impreza type r, pretty standard in form apart from 3inch de-cat & uprated panel filter. I like the punchiness of the vf24 but when the up-pipe was replaced recently I decided to put on a vf35 turbo. Ive got an apexi power fc ready to go on the car and be mapped but Im wondering now if I did the right thing by sticking on the vf35 as I dont know if will make much of a difference over the vf24. I dont want to go front mount etc so my dilemma is; whether or not to just stick with the vf24 and get it mapped.

Any opinions greatfully accepted.

If you dont want to go fmic then stick with the vf24, you wont gain much by sticking with a top mount on a vf35 and then your going to need an aftermarket ecu for your car so it can be mapped.
What are you aiming to achieve on your car though?

You wont really notice any increase in lag, you would have to be really looking for it to notice any tbh, but if you go fmic it will be better for a vf35 and then you can bin the vf24, at much above 320bhp the tmic on these are a bit restrictive

i think you will notice the lag though with an fmic, arent the sti v8 top mounts better, i was going to go along this route, dont really want a front mount unless i have to
i had a vf34 and front mount on a wagon, it did bloody shift but the lag was pretty bad tbh , dead under 3000 revs but after 4k a rocket ship, correct me if i`m wrong but idid hear the vf34 has better spool than a 35 aswell

You could go new age sti top mount, waste of time like unless you do some modifications to the scoop/change scoop to a new age (03 sti type) as you won't get the airflow.

You will need to upgrade your injectors to 550/565's and when mapped you should start to come on boost from mid 2k's.

Vf35 is a sleeve bearing so has a greater area of contact, the vf34 is a roller bearing turbo and has less contact (low friction), but its slightly bigger than the 35, the 34 has better top end but costs twice the price as a 35.
