WHICH ECU

Hi, i have a standard impreza turbo 1998 (R) which has a knackered engine, i have got a replacment WRX engine removed from a 1996 what i want to know is will my ECU be ok or will i need a ECU from a WRX
hope someone can help and thanks in advance

you will need a 3 pin or the four plug ecu depending on your fittings. I think on the 1996 it is the four plug theres lots on ebay. The z4 is the best standard classic ecu! It has a bit more boost and better fueling ect!

Depends if the 1996 engine is a MY96 or MY97 and if the 1998 one is a MY98 or MY99.

If the 1996 engine is MY97 and the 1998 one is MY98, then they share the same compatible (3-plug) ECU type...
