Default Mk2 Power steering pump HELP

Just upgraded from the mk1 power steering pump on my 95 wagon. all went well until the road test. at idle all appeared fine. but, upon reaching 1500rpm i noticed an odd noise, which turned into a whine at >2000rpm and incresed in pitch the higher the revs. does this mean i have a dud pump or its on its way out???
Any ideas?
Cheers.

did you check power steering levels once the car has started. As i had the same issue on my old wrx and i just topped up and slowly the whine vanished. keep in mind that the power steering oil is at a different level on the dipstick when warm. compared to cold. hope that helps.

cheers

yeah, i let it get up to temp, and did the bleeding routine again, no drops in fluid, but i did notice that it was slightly frothy even after bleeding, so im now thinking air is sneeking in somewhere, gonna try changing the return hose for an uprated one, and locktight the inlet hose connections. and re-bleed it, but as its FREEZING outside now it will have to wait for the moro.
will keep updating as i get on.
Cheers.
