Nur Spec R or Afterburner Vortex
Hi all,
am probably going to order a new exhaust system in the very near future and have narrowed my choices down to 2. The Blitz Nur Spec R or Afterburner Vortex. Any opinions or past experience on what is the best system out of the 2? Im not too worried about how loud they are, just want the best perfomance. Trying to do my homework before parting with the cash. Thanks

The Nur Spec is a great exhaust, lovely sound and I can fit the bung for MOT/Wifey driving
As said, it is well made and went on first time with no issues

Agree with most of the comments already made. I have a Blitz Nurspec R and yes, it is a tad noisey but get it on an open road and it sounds glorious. Get a Blitz but also get a bung.

I have an afterburner vortex and it is a tad loud on long journeys, but like the blitz you can get a removable bung which makes it as loud as a prodrive system(quiet) .My mate has a P1 with a blitz on and it does sound awesome, having said that the afterburner sounds great - a tad less bassy than the blitz, but still a great sounding exhaust heres the write up on both exhaust:
Impreza Turbo 1993-2000 Classic : Subaru Impreza Exhaust - The Legendary Afterburner
Impreza Turbo 1993-2000 Classic : Blitz Nur Spec r Exhaust, Subaru Impreza
Hope this helps - you pay your money -then make your choice

The Blitz is a deeper louder exhaust.Too loud for me but very well made and looks the part. Sounds rubbish with a bung in and that affects the performance
Vortex is a bit tinnier type sound and the one i had didnt seem as well finished as a Blitz. I had a bung for it and again it affected the performance( less mid range)
Get yourself to a meet and see what you like .If you do lots of motorway or a high mileage i would go for a quieter one otherwise the Blitz could be the one.If you dont like them after buying then no worries they both sell easily secondhand especially the Blitz

Just fitted a blitz to mine, perfect fit and took less than an hour. Hardest part was undoing the 13 year old spring bolts. It is a little loud, but so long as you don't go booting it in residential areas it'll be fine. Does sound awsome going under bridges, just wish we had some tunnels around here

The only issue i see is that the blitz is twice the price as you cant just get a backbox. Is there any problems with fitting the blitz system if your car has been mapped for a 2 1/2 system and then changing to the 3 " blitz?

The freer flowing, normally louder/deepr, yes. So I'd expect the R full system to be louder/deeper. However, wait for someone to post - there're bound to be a few out there that have experienced hearing both....

I've got a afterburner vortex with center section and decat downpipe.
First I got just the backbox and was a bit let down - then I found out that the hawkeye is really muffled anyway. I then got the center section which is only £95 and made all the difference - really had that scooby rumble that i was looking for.
Because of wanting more power with remaping etc I then decated the downpipe and its now turned into a monster (might not be everyones cup of tea)

I would recommend the after burner

Thanks for all the replies, have decided to go with the Blitz, its the one i was tending to favour slightly of the two, from the replies it looks to be a good choice. Only problem is that Scooby World are out of stock until mid March so will have to be patient.

Some tests done by scoobyworld to prove how good the afterburner vortex is compared to the original afterburner :
