Hanbrake warning light

Default Hanbrake warning light

got a v1 sti and noticed this morning that under heavy braking the handbrake on light comes on on the dash,is there a level sensor in the resevoir or is it something else.any ideas would be great,cheers

Apparently, the only sensor on the braking system is a level sensor so it may be that you have slightly low brake fluid.

cheers for that i'm going to see if i get time at dinnertime to have a look so i'll look under the bonnet before i start crawling underneath,fingers crossed coz i've spent enough on the thing lately.

As mach has said, the brake fluid level has probably dropped due to pad wear. After you've checked the fluid level have a look at the pad wear as well as catching the pads before they score the discs saves a fair bit of money.

i'm changing to 4 pot's in the next week or so,so will sort it all out asap,before i damage the 270mm disks

The fluid level needs to be right at the maximum or the warning light comes on.Check the rubber insert in the lid of the brake pot reservoir. It might just need pushing back in .Thats what it was on mine anyway
