Hi,

i have had a 'check engine light' come on when my 1996 impreza wrx ra is idle. As soon as i touch the accelerator it goes off but then comes back on again as soon as the revs reachidle level again.

Also i have just had a problem arise when accelerating.. when i get to about 4000/5000 revs it backfires and stutters/coughs. I do not know if the 2 are related as i have had the check engine light on since i bought it about 3 months ago.

If anyone could shed any light on this i would appreciate it, i have tried to get a fault code but was told that this being an import has a different port to connect to the fault code machine.

i had this on my 95 series Mcrae and it was linked to the ECU fault.
