Question wich turbo??

hi, i'm thinking in upgradding the turbo, intercooler (want to keep it TMIC) and injectors.
wich package you recommend, having the following mods allready fitted:
RCM semi-closed block v3 (forged internals)
metal head gasket
s/s equal length manifold
s/s up pipe
s/s sport cat
s/s 3.5" cat back exhaust
vf23 turbo (OEM)
440cc yellow injectors (OEM)
bosch fuel pump
HYDRA ecu
exedy cerametallic clutch
ligthened flywheel
OEM intercooler
GREEN pannel filter
with proper map by JOLLY GREEN MONSTER around 325bhp/328lbf
so now weak point is turbo, injectors and the small TMIC.
cheers all

If you fit a 2nd hand TM from a STi Blobeye or Hawkeye, then I think these can handle 400-450bhp. I don't think there are too many non-OEM TMs that can better this. APS and Hyperflow ones might, but they're mega bucks, I think.

This begs the salient question: how far do you want to go bhp-wise? Answer this, then we can advise on a suitable turbo/injectors (and maybe a different TM)...

hi mates, thanks for the answer, i'll go for around 400bhp, so a latter version TM would be enough, sadly here in Belgium we can't fit FMIC as the car has to remain as close to OE...visually
i'd like to fit a bolt on turbo, like an other VF serie but don't want to lose the top end power like my vf23! i prefer a bit lag but very strong turbo!
as for the injectors what do i need, top feed or side feed (i'm not sure)
thanks
keep answer what you recommend me

TD05H 20g
550cc
FPR
Blob TMIC

You won't be far off 400bhp (380-400 probably) if mapped on 99+ RON...

Or for 380 or less - but 300rpm ealrier spool, instead - fit an TD05H 18g.

It'll come down to what you can get your hands on at a good price, I suppose...

550cc
Any Subaru side feed 550cc will fit. They're either ph1/1.5 which fit straight in, or ph.2 - in which case you'll need Carl Davey's ph.2 > ph.1/1.5 adaptor kit for c.£30.

FPR
Fuelab 3-port. If not going parallel, simply block off the left-hand feed port with the supplied screw-in bung.

Blob TM
2nd hand! Relatively cheap! No moving parts, so a no-brainer....,

It's not about the 6-speeds ratio's/performance.

It's the fact that it'll be able to handle the power and torque when you get the mods done!... unlike your 5-sp.....

On average, this side of 350/350 for the 5-sp.

But anything from 300+ could cause it to go. Lot's of variables: how you treat it and how often; age; gears' wear to date; pot luck, etc........

no trackday at all, just fast road driving, box checked by my mechanic who prepares rally scoobys .
so hope not to change it soon lol!
i've been told that the 2001 onward WRX box can't cope with more than +-320bhp and you can find lots of them with more than that without breaking...on the other hand other people say that the v3 short box is strong enough for 350+...
so if it breaks...i'll change it lol

Just make sure you have funds ready for when it does go. Build up a float in your acc.. or start putting money into a separate "Scooby Acc." LOL
