Default Should I ditch my zero/sports sports cat?

Currently have a full zero/sports exhaust from the turbo back including a high flow sports cat. Sitting about 300bhp on a Type R.

I'm about to go for 400bhp and would like to know if I need to replace the high flow cat with a proper de-cat? I would imagine it to be too restrictive for the power I am after...

If so could someone recommend a decent de-cat downpipe? I have had a look, are they as good as one another as long as you stick to decent brands? HKS, H&S, RCM, etc?

I know how much my zero/sports is worth (it came on the car btw, i didnt buy it!) and would prob just keep it for MOT time.

I wouldn't have thought it necessary to remove it at all if its a good high flow cat. Yes, you will get more power with a de-cat but then theres the hassle every year when you go to get it MOT'd. My mates classic RA had 380+bhp with a high flow sports cat and the only reason he changed it was because he upgraded it to a larger turbo with TiAl wastegate etc.

I have the standard cat still on my96 classic WRX (work in progress ) so I'd be interested to know what the general vibe is on this to

If it's a good quality 100 cell race cat it shouldn't be a problem. I got 421 hp from a Saab 900 with a Kemira cat, lots of people here in Sweden have more power than that still with catalysts.

Yeah it is about as good a quality as you can get I'm sure. Well it better be for 900 quid for the downpipe alone!
