Default Engine identification

Hi guys.

My bottom end on my 96 sti started rumbling.
I ordered a sti engine and heads complete from a guy who had crashed a 97 sti type r who had good feedback.
I just want to double check that it is deffinatly an STI block and heads.
Are there any markings or things I should be looking for to identify if its WRX or STI as it does not have ancillaries or inlet with it (pics did have a red inlet though)

Thanks for your help.

Steve

So far I have found the following markings:-

On the part of the block that would bolt to the flywheel it reads - 78579 and then either a 0 or a square, then - 782799 (i think the last two are both 9's but not 100%)

Then further over to the right (if standing at front of car looking back) it says - 289601.

Also, near the front of the block where the 2 halfs join, it says 88 AB 23323 on one half and 88 BB on the other half (this is near to where the block is stmped with EJ20.

Any help would be great as I just want to check I have been sent the correct engine.

Thanks

Steve
