sensible boost pressure ?
hi all, fairly new to all this scooby lark, so i bought a uk 1999 turbo 2000 off a mate, now its boosting at 10psi through all gears, fairly simple mods, decat +big exhaust and a k+n filter, seems quick enough but im tempted to turn boost up to maybe 15psi ? but obviously i dont want to damage any thing by overboosting.
what does everyone else run at ?
should i turn it up then take it for dyno run and diagnostics ? or just let them set the whole thing up properly ?
thanks in advance.

hiya mate,
a load of people will be along any minute now telling you its probably not a good idea to just whack the boost up.... and they are probably right! your standard (i asssume) ECU might not be able to cope and deliver inadequate fueling. Det would likely be a problem and the subaru bottom ends are rather prone to it. The ECU may try and save the engine by initiating fuel cut if it doesn't like the amount of boost. in fact some people suffer with this with just the mods you have described as the decat exhaust has a pretty big effect, especially with the cold, dense air.
if you do go down the manual boost rout maybe do it in conjunction with a dyno like you said so they can listen on det cans and hopefully look at your AFR too.
think my wagon boosted to 11psi or so standard... so you could proabably wind on another couple of psi (WRX '97 wagon, so bit differnet but same turbo and that)
good luck and have fun!
