Brakes - MY99-00 onto MY98
Just agreed a purchase on a 1998 UK impreze turbo, and have noticed the '99-'00 versions have 4 pot calipers rather than the two pots on the '98.
Whats needed to upgrade....calipers, pads, discs and carriers yes? and what kind of money should i pay for second hand calipers and carriers?

Calipers, different pattern pads and larger 294/5/6/mm discs.
No spacers/bracket needed - 4-pots bolt straight to OEM front hub carriers!
Fit brand new 5.1 fluid and a full set (front AND rear) Goodridge braided hoses. Will help keeping pressure in the system (the OEM flexi hoses can bulge meaning all the hydro pressure doesnt get delivered to the piston/pad interface!).
Also, the brake master cylinder stopper mod compliments the above mods....

About £200 buys you a used set of calipers, pads and discs off here or ebay.
Goodridge hoses another £50...ish.
Found when I fitted 4 pots to front the solid rears were prone to fade. Obviously Subaru agreed as they fitted vented rears as standard with the 4 pot upgrade. Once I sourced a set of vented rear discs, calipers and pads (around £60 for the set) and removed the backing plates behind the discs to improve cooling the car was happy again. (but I am known to be heavy on the brakes, had pads on a Clio 16v in flames once LOL)
Worthwile upgrade for the money. Means you get two high speed stops before fade instead of one from the original setup Moving from Porsches to Scoobys I was shocked by just how bad the standard brake performance was. Got used to it now and use the gearbox more, and have blown up 2 boxes in the process FPMSL.
