Default FPR questions

Hi,

Is there an advantage between 2 and 3 port FPR's? from what i understand the 3 port are for dual fuel rails? I have a standard fuel setup, do i need to get a 2 port fpr or will a 3 port fit with 1 port capped off?

On the 3 port fpr are 2 of of the ports output for the injectors and the tird is the tank return?

Thanks for any info.

Cheers

Dave

Or just buy the 3-port - if you don't use the 3rd port, just blank it off. The Fuelab,I believe, has a blank screw-in bung for this.

Then, if you do decide on parallel later, you can then still realise dedicated feeds to both sides of the 3-porter (rather than having to T the fuel lines first, if it was a 2-port)! I bought the 3-port for this very reason (although I WILL go parallel from the get-go anyway... )

Also, the 2 and 3 port Fuelab are the same price!

Excellent, good advice thanks.

Also will i need anything else to actually fit an FPR?

See post #6 of the below thread for what's included in the Fuelab kit and what you'd need separately:-

https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...e-fpr-get.html

If you don't get it from Lateral Performance, then you'd have to source a suitable pressure set-up gauge. I bought a 7bar/100psi glycerine-filled one from Temple Tuning off ebay. It has the correct 1/8" NPT thread to screw into the Fuelab's front gauge port...

Thanks again Joz, so the main thing i will need is the -6an fixings that go into the regulator? these then attach to normal fule hose is that right?

Guages seem to be about 18quid, i did have a think about having an electonic sender and an in cabin gauge!

cheers

Yeah gauge around the 17-20 quid mark.

Yeah, the fuel lines plus -6AN fitting you have to sort yourself, or get your local specialsit to sort. BTW, API Dave does a pre-fab'd, simple parallel set-up, with Earl's -6AN fittings: £300+VAT:-

(I assume the fuel rails are included?)

If you get the 3-port then, as said, you can have dedicated feeds to both sides of the FPR, so one of those T-pieces in the pic would be redundant....

Or if i have spent enough on my car recently and perhaps didn't go down the parallel fuel rails route would these do for the return and pressure side of the fpr?

Yes. They're the -6AN hose end fittings.

If going in-series using the existing in-situ fuel lines, then you need a 90-deg rail adapter (to go in place of the old, now redundant, OEM FPR). Then you'd just run a suitable length of -6AN hose from that adaptor up to the left-hand port of the 3-port Fuelab (with right-hand blanked off), plus the tank return to the bottom of the Fuelab.
