what engines fit my 96 STI

Hi guys.

What engines can I fit (without modifying things) into my 96 STI.
I have been offered a cheap 2002 wrx but am unsure if a newer engine will fit.

Any EJ short block will fit your existing heads/ancillaries

excuse my stupidity

so just to clarify the 2002 bug eye 2L engine will fit.
I realise the blocks may be the same but if I put the whole 202 engine inc its heads, inlet etc in will the wiring all match up.

Ahhhh... now that's a question for the likes of merlin24 or JGM to answer! Sorry.

I think there'll be some serious surgery needed (but don't know for sure)...
