Changing the timing belt - the RHS cams...
Howdo, doing some research on changing the timing belt and there's one bit i'm confused about - once everything has been timed up and the belt been removed , what's the deal with the right hand side cams (as you look at the engine). There's something about them spinning and needing an allen wrench to stop them...
Could you clamp the two cam pulleys together before you remove the belt so they don't spin at all?
How's it work - or is it an easy job to do?

Hi, you just need to be careful, as the r/h cams are 'on cam', and will spin.
The problem is the valves clashing if the in/ex cams spin too far together. If you like, you can put a couple of spanners on the cam bolts, and wedge them to the slam panel with a screwdriver.

If you're worried about the cams spinning then pick up one of these Tools in Stock, UK, selling Draper Tools, Sealey Tools, Laser, Gunson and Kamasa hand tools and power tools - air power tools, air tools accessories, body shop, compressors, electric power, electrical and plumbing, engineering tools, garage and works
Also when you have completed the job, turn the engine over at least one complete revolution by hand. That way if anything is too far out, (which it shouldn't be) you won't damage the engine.
