Hi Just come back from a run on the motorway and pulled up at my house and smelt like a oily water on exhaust smell and silly as it sounds like a spicey curry smell , looked under the bonnet and seen liquid and the inside front left hand corner , looked in engine bay to see what would lie right under it and seen liquid spashes all around the black bottle thing in the photo , i,v check the water hoses and can,t find any splits just wondering what this bottle is and does it hold a liquid , i think its anti freeze liquid as it taste bitter but can,t find where its leaking , any help please

The spicy curry smell is the giveaway: anti-freeze as you suspected.

Sorry, can't help with where from though.

If the hose isn't split, it's most likely that the plastic end tank of the radiator has split.
You probably won't notice it when cold, but it will open up when the engine is warm and the water system is under pressure. Look for staining on the plastic, although you might not be able to see it with the radiator fitted.

You should be able to get a replacement for £50-ish off ebay - easy diy fit.

Stating the obvious, but keep an eye on the coolant level until you get a replacement, as it will probably go down in gulps depending on how you drive!
