Hi guys.
i have a 96 modified impreza thats having trouble starting! With apexi ecu fitted it only starts 1 out of 10 times (then is fine!), both fuel and spark there when cranked. Also, if i fit a standard ecu it starts and works fine every time!!
been told it could be the crank/cam sensor, or possibly the cambelt missed a tooth or loose......

but would that account for not working with just the apexi unit??????
Remap help or not??????

i would say it needs remapping, as you have said it starts fine on the standard ecu it points directly at the apexi ecu, someone has either messed with the hand controller if it has one, or brought one and just slapped it on without mapping it, what are your other mods??

 

Yes my mechanic said the same, but after speaking to zen performance (who fitted and mapped it initially) he seemed to think that remapping wouldnt really affect it???

Oh and as far as i know no-one has touched the controller!!!

 

you need to take it to zen then to get them to check the map is ok and unaltered from when he did it.

 

so other than the ecu being stuffed, theres no other component or part that could cause the failed starting???
