Someone seems to have got their sensors mixed up. It's the knock sensor that's hidden beneath the IC and dumpvalve return pipe.

The coolant temp sensor is underneath the front of the inlet manifold, screwed in to the coolant distribution main behind/beneath the alternator.

However, all that said, does the temp gauge on the dash read normally (i.e. about half way up after five minutes or so of running)? If so you can pretty much forget the coolant temp sensor as a cause of this problem. Earlier cars have separate sensors for the ECU and the dash gauge, so it's possible for the ECU one to go without anything being visibly wrong. Your car has one sensor to supply both, so it's usually reasonably obvious from the temp needle if it's gone.

If the temp reading is normal, likeliest cause for your emissions problem would probably be a knackered catalyst. Take it you don't have a full or partial decat?

That all makes sense. Code 32 is the O2 sensor - so your car will have been running unduly rich, explaining both the CO and the poor fuel consumption. Surprised it didn't fail the MOT on Lambda too in that case.

Replace the O2 sensor, run another ECU reset and all should be sorted.
