Alright mate,
last year i changed my crank seal and oil pump seal on my97 uk turbo, the belt had been done a few months previously so did'nt change it but obviously it had to come off to do the seals. I had never done a cam belt before so read up about it watched a video on youtube which although didnt have sound was quite helpful.
If you are mechanically minded confident and get all the right info it should'nt be to hard, the major problem is if you do it wrong you could f*** up the engine.
If your going to do the job yourself you will need a socket set and some tipex for the
timing marks, and watch the passenger 2 cam pulleys as they can spin real real easy, i have heard if you take the spark plugs out they are less likely to spin although i dont know for sure.
Now i have done one i would quite happily do it again if need be, however there were some tense moments and lots of swearing involved.
good luck

it's not to hard to do. but when you buy a new cambelt kit the cam belt has timing marks on it and all the pulleys have timing marks as well. I think the best way to do it is strip it all down turn the engine by hand and line up all the timing marks on the pulleys then take the belt off, change all the pulleys that come in the kit, belt on, job done. Sounds easy but it not that easy. O the swearing comes when it's time to put the belt back on.

ebay is the cheapest, the cheapest so far. Subaru Impreza Turbo UK 5 Piece Timing Belt Kit V3 & V4 on eBay (end time 24-Feb-10 15:08:53 GMT) and I would get a rocker set to. SUBARU IMPREZA 2.0i TURBO ROCKER COVER GASKET SET on eBay (end time 31-Jan-10 20:25:40 GMT)
