Default Will this exhaust attract the cops?

Hi,

After much posting, whining, thinking, pestering, etc. I have decided to put the following on my 02 WRX Bug Eye:

1. Decat up-pipe
2. Prodrive Sports Cat
3. Straight-through Cat pipe
4. Green cotton panel filter
5. Walbro fuel pump
Then have JGM remap my car...

All that is left to consider is the silencer (and buy a centre section)

I am thinking of playing it a bit safe and buying a used Prodrive back box or going for an Afterburner Vortex

So will the Afterburner attract the cops?

Will the Prodrive give me subtle Scooby roar?

Any advice would be welcome.

Cheers,
Nick.

Cops won't target you buddy, it will be quite loud though- motorway journeys of longer than an hour will start to give you a head ache.
I have
-ninja sport cat downpipe
-de-cat mid pipe
-larger center pipe (with box)
-ninja2 rear box
-Green pannel filter, all from scoobyworld
It sounds lovely and has that destinctive subaru flat four burble! yum yum yumy!

Powerwrx, what can I say...

Exhaust looks amazing.

Might just have to buy the bung for it if things get dicey!!

I have just changed from this exhaust on my daily driver to the 3inch version.. it was subtly loud but not too bad on normal driving.. very nice sound to it.
I am out late lots and been stopped a couple of times routine stuff and they have never mentioned the exhaust or stopped me because of it.. the 3inch is a lot louder..

lower lines on graph below is 2.5inch exhaust, higher lines and the power figure is 3inch version.. only change the exhaust and map tweak.

Driving like a c*ck is what will attract the attention of the cops.
Prodrive is a quieter back box, nice sound, quiet on the motorway.

I have H&S decat and still have the original resonated section in then the Prodrive box, I wouldn't change the box as I like the stealth look of it,and nice on the motorway, was thinking of changing the centre section for a straight through silencer tho to get a little more burble, I think the 2 litre creates more burble than the 2.5 litre tho

Simon,

Are you saying you had the 2.5" centre section and afterburner backbox originally. Then u swapped for the 3" centre section and 3" afterburner backbox?

The graph shows a massive increase in power for just an exhaust which is great. Couple of questions, could you change from 2.5" to 3" without having a map tweak and also how much louder is it?

Thanks ben

yes.. the 3inch downpipe step to 2.5inch centre was more restrictive imho than a 2.5inch downpipe as that usually closes from 3inch to 2.5inch smoother.

I mapped it and got to the best safely I could on the standard engine on the 2.5inch exhaust.. I then swapped to the 3inch exhaust and did the same.. it is running more boost on the 3inch but it gave tiny tiny gain on the 2.5inch exhaust running any more than I was..
ie. I had got to the best boost to run on the 2.5inch exhaust..

I may well make more at more power at higher boost now on the 3inch but 1.7bar peak and 1.6bar held on the standard engine will do for the moment.. keep considering turbo change.. but this is suppose to be my sensible car.. considering water injection next.
