Question car daed as a dodo

came back from work got changed went back out to go up street,jumped in turn key nothing! not even trying to turn over!battery fine(checked with meter),i changed plugs yesterday,ran fine to and from work,any ideas?cheers

Is it turning over? do the dash lights go out when it trys to start?

lights stay on,no sound at all when i turn key!

OK, two answers: if the key is faulty, it usually starts, then stops after a short time, afaik. This is what I was told by a dealer, btw.

The starter is on the bellhousing of the gearbox.

i would check to see if the cables are ok going to the starter , fat chance but worth a try m8

If the starter motor is jammed try giving it a bang with something and jump start it, thats if youve tried to start it a zillion times. Ive used the wheel brace to bang the starter motor on my last car when this happens. Just a suggestion

u should hear a click or a clunk when turning the key if the starter is jamed , u wont just hear nothing also the electrics on the dash will dim a lot as the starter is still drawing power hitting a jammed starter normally does fix it though lol

I know if my alarm and immobiliser is on i dont get any dash lights. but thats aftermarket. lock the car and leave it for a min then unlock and try again.
