Please have a listen to this and tell me if you can hear any slap.

Can't hear anything definitive from that. Certainly can't hear any evidence of slap as you didn't rev the engine (which is when it's most obvious). Did hear an odd knocking noise when you had the phone under the bonnet, but, that said, you never get a representative recording via a cameraphone so it might be nothing, or something else entirely.

If you're concerned about noises, take the car to someone with the expertise to listen, and know what they're hearing.

 

its hard to tell from that clip due to sound quality but pistonslap goes when engine is warm.

 

that sounds like a bad small end mate , similar sound to slap but you get it all the time instead of when u just rev the car , if it goes away when the cars warm then it may be severe slap but to be honest mate the noise is too fast to be slap even if it was severe it wouldnt be as fast a tapping as that was

 

Bad small end, sounds bad, any more advice for me, car pulls fine.
when it was at the Scooby Clinic @ Chesterfield couple of months ago they never mentioned anything.

doubt even that it would be the small ends mate hard 2 diagnose over the net

I'm not sure if I'm hearing anything out of the ordinary, are you saying you can hear something?
I've got the car up for sale and don't really want to sell something that is broken.

Exactly the point I was making earlier. To put it bluntly it sounds like a bag of sh*t, but it's impossible to know whether that's because of the poor sound quality, or because your engine sounds like a bag of sh*t.

Does it sound the same now as it did when you took it to Scoobyclinic? As above, if in any doubt, take it back there (or somewhere else).

 

I see your point, I think it sounds similar now as it did before.
I have watched some vids on you tube of cars with Piston Slap but mine does not sound anywhere near as bad.

just listened to the HD file... I hear the noise your referring to,but it doesn't sound like anything as serious as piston slap, mine had a vaguely similar noise and it was the air con belt.
