how often does the cambelt need changing

Question how often does the cambelt need changing

Hi could anyone tell me how often the cambelt would need changing on a 95 import auto wagon plz as just brought the car and last owner didnt know when it was done. I will prob get it done soon as i got some spare cash anyway to be on safe side but would be nice to know. cheers.

I'd say 30000 miles, but as its rubbber, over time will get brittle, so I guess about every three years.

But who am i to say, i've had 5 in three years. (dont ask long story.)

Every 3 years or 45k, whichever comes first.

Its a longer than usual cambelt (its about twice as long as your ford mondeo for instance) so it has lower intervals, and as long as you use a subaru/gates one (same just renamed) you shouldnt have any problems (and stick to the service intervals).

UK cars at that time were 3years 45K miles (which would be circa 70K km, not sure what was actually suggested).

For completeness newer cars (01on) are 4years 60K miles, whether anything changed to justify this or Subaru got more confident in the life I don't know.
