Default HKS SSQV Dump Valve

Folks,

Recently fitted the above to my Hawkeye STi after previously having a Forge VTA installed (which by the way caused no probs) At lows revs it causes no issues and seems to operate fine but when giving it some proper boost the revs seem to suddenly dive when u lift off creating a big jerk when changing up thru the gears, also doesn't sound like its venting properly sometimes.

Any advice appreciated.....

Cheers

Meldy

Had exactly the same issue with mine mate, binned it in the end and replaced it with a forge funnily enough, no more problem They are over rated imo.

This was on a type r btw, not a hawk sti, but the same pesky valve!

I did the same. Got rid of perfectly good forge one, used the hks one for a while and thought it was spunk. Car never ran right with it. Messed with the adjuster on back(only on old one) and broke it. Cost me like £180!!. I must be bad. I then went re-circ with a standard bov which made car jerky, then back to vta forge, which car runs perfect on. What a waste of time eh.
People do say re-circ is better but for me not keen, maybe its my map. But most agree hks bov, is like most of their stuff. Overpriced fast and furious childrens candy and it blows..not in a good way.

You will need the map tweaked if you change from re-circ to VTA. Should be fine after.

Trouble is, people change from re-circ to VTA and immediatley complain that their car doesn't run as good as it did with the re-circ.

I wouldn't change it until you're on the dyno, takes minutes to swap the valves over. Unless you're running Simtek or similar, ie. mafless setup.

This is only my views so don't shoot me down if you don't agree...............
