ECu Choice for Sti5 TypeR V-ltd
The delivery of my Sti 5 Type R V-Ltd is now just a few weeks away (Hopefully end of Jan), so i am starting to think about what upgrades i want on the car
One of the choices i am considering is which ECU to fit. I am assuming that a Type R Version5 will not have a programmable ECU, although i am not 100% sure as it is a MY 99? Advice please ?
I would like an ECU that can run multiple maps, so that i can switch between depending on what i am doing, so advice on a good choice and a mapper than knows the chosen ECU well?
So if anyone has advice, please post some suggestions
Regards
Steve

Ok and is that just a single map or can it be used for all the toys too ?
I'm just trying to plan ahead. May have the ECUTEK map to start with and then upgrade to a new ECU later. Do you know how much the ECUTEK re-map is, licence costs etc. Typically that's all ?

No you can get an Ecutek remap from any of the big name mappers i.e Andy Forrest or JGM etc..
I've had my "99 Type R done twice this way for various mods and it's perfectly suitable & cheaper than a replacement ECU as long as you don't want antilag, launch control or multiple maps.
This is strongly reccommended on your car as they are not designed to run on U.K fuel.

looked to have been adviced well already..
nice car btw
standard ecu is mappable with ecutek but does retain the maf sensor which is a weakness on the 99 and 00.. and only one map on 99/00 original ecu..
Then only Simtek which is mafless and two maps available..
then solaris/syvecs whcih is also mafless and upto 8 map combinations
