Default starter motor?

hi,sometimes(only now and then),my car seems very slow in starting, the actual turning over is slow, other times its absolutely fine and we have had it on a few occasions where u turn the key and it dosent even turn(no noise or anything),im inclined to think its the starter motor as its been on the car since new and done over 100k,the battery has always been spot on even if the car has been left stood for over a week!,can anyone confirm this fault through experience as i will look for a cheap replacement as i dont want the car to let me down,my mrs drives it daily and she does get a bit of a panic on car is a uk 99 turbo wagon. thanks.

Does sound like the starter: probably worn or dirty brushes/commutator.

Most car electrics places will do one on exchange, but they are still around the £80 mark, plus fitting etc.
