Boot Leakage Blobeye 03
Hey folks,
i have a slight problem which is annoying everytime it rains or snows when it defrosts my boot gets a nice dose of water
ive also noticed that under the spoiler (in the boot) there is alot of condensation
And one last things because all the water runs down the side paths ive noticed some tiny rust spots. (can anyone recommend anything to stop it from rusting)
cheers
steve

Boot leaking is common on Imprezas.
Areas to check are:
1. spoiler seal to bootlid. If you can remove spoiler and look, all the better. Either replace the foam seals or use something like Tiger-Seal/Sika-Flex.
2. Rear lights: the sealant dries and gets dirty, then starts to leak. Remove rear lights, (5 nuts on captive bolts, then a bloody good pull backwards), remove all traces of old sealant, replace with suitable non-setting mastic like Carafax grey.
3. Boot seal: check for cuts etc, spray boot with water, lift lid, check inside for water trails. (Pouring water over it with food dye in it can help). Anywhere it's getting under, lift seal and replace over a nice bead of Carafax.
4. Rear windscreen Yes it CAN leak, esp along the bottom edge. Have it replaced and refitted, doesn't cost £££££££.

I had this too.
I removed and siliconed under the spoiler, but it didnt solve it. So thought it was the boot seal, and found you could just lift the seal off, as it wasnt held down with anything. So I siliconed round the rim, them refitted the seal, and it hasnt leaked since!
