Default Oils for Track only Version 6 STI

Hey guys,

I've got a JDM Version 6 STi which will be used as a track only car, it will rarely be driven on public roads.

I need recommendations for the best engine, gearbox and diff oils suited for a track car. I've read so many conflicting opinions over on the Aussie forums. So it be good to hear some of your opinions.

Thanks

Standard oils will suffice as long as you change them more often, though a 10w50 oil may do for the track, depends if you have any modifications to the car or if you are running an oil cooler?
I would also consider changing the sump to a better baffled one as oil starvation has been known to be an issue with classics, plus an upgraded fuel system similar to a Spec C's to stop fuel starvation would also be advisable

I would go for something better than standard as standard oils breakdown quicker, so will need changing more often and will end up costing more in the long run, especially as they don't protect as well as the good oils.

I'd use the Silkolene Pro S 10w-50, but if you are in Australia, I don't know if you can get hold of it. I think Silkolene bike oils are available there, so go for the Pro 4 Plus 10w-50 as it's fine in cars and is a very good oil

Well as far as i'm aware the engine internals are stock. Only modification is an Earl's oil cooler.

So my options for purchase in Australia are as follows:

Mobile 1 15W-50
Mobil S 10W40
ELF Excellium SM 10W-50
ELF Competition SM 10W-40

I'm leaning more towards the ELF oils....would they be appropriate for my application?

As for the gearbox and diff oils - i've always used Redline Oils. Do they work well with the STi's??

The Elf 10w-50 should be ideal and Redline make some very good gear oils so fine with those.

Cheers
