Default Petrol Smell in my bugeye

Hi guys, my dad drives a 2001 wrx bugeye always serviced regularly and run only on vpower! In the winter the smell of petrol in the car is so strong it gives you a headache! you can smell it outside and when your in the car with the heater on you can smell it through the vents! It is definatley coming from the engine and no where else! Checked the engine top and bottom but can't find any leaks!! Anyone had this problem and if they know how to cure it would be great!!! thanks guys

I think this has been posted before, it is to do with the flexi pipes loosing flexibility through age, like we all do. Along with the metal pipes contracting slightly, cannot remember what was done other than possibly replacing the flexi-pipes.
