Default 'Smoke' in the cockpit

2.0 GL - When I turn the heater onto warm smoke (heavy steam) blows out throught he vents.

Is this a faulty heater matrix or can anyone suggest another likely cause?

If it is the heater matrix how easy are they to change?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply.

Its not oily nor does it seem to smell like antifreeze.

I have now read a separate thread re changing the matrix, it does seem a pain!
