Default Is a Walbro fuel pump on my list?

Hello, I have a 2001 UK300 PPP WRX. I have recently had an engine rebuild 2500miles ago and im just in the midst of installing the below:
  • Sti Pink Injectors (cleaned and flow tested) NOW FITTED
  • VF30 (Brand New) NOW FITTED
  • Sti Turbo Up pipe (Brand New) NOW FITTED
  • 3" full decat Stainless (Brand New) CURRENTLY FITTING
  • Sti TMIC (2nd hand, refurb) TO FIT
  • Panel filter - YET TO RESEARCH AND PURCHASE.
So the obvious question now is do i need a Walbro 255 LPH?
Andrew Carr says yes and im not disputing it, but im under the influance that the UK300 was fitted with a 255 LPH pump at the factory, is this true?

Is it a big job to find out other than the steps ive seen on youtube?

And last what BHP/LB do you think i'll gain from the above once Andrew has mapped it?

Thanks for reading

Rob

I'm not sure if yours has one fitted, but if it hasn't its not a big job to fit one.

With all of the above, I would say you should get about 350bhp with a remap.

hi rob, if i am correct they were meant to have uprated pumps already fitted, but some people have removed them to find the original ones still in place? the only way to find out is to have a look, although they are usually noisier than standard, mine is on my ppp sti, what ever the out come it will fly once Andrew has finished with it.

Well worth getting one m8.

Its well known that with age the standard pump gets less efficient.
For the price and the ease of fitting its well worth doing, only a 20min job to fit.

20min for a novice or expert ?

To be honest my mechanic will probably start weeping if i throw another job at him, so should be a job for me, or a simple last job for him? Ive read JGM write up and the youtube clips

Hes just done the top of this thread this morning... with great effort

All done and mapped - Andy and I think we are looking at an excess of 320bhp. If it wasnt for the Intercooler i was conned with id be looking closer the 350 mark!!! So im sourcing an newage STI intercooler and a tweak off Andy . A map tweak that is
