Thermotec Exhaust Heatwrap
Hi guys
Just bought myself a shiny new exhaust and was having a nose around re heatwrap for the downpipe. I have come across some stuff called Thermotec
just wondered if anyone has used the stuff?? and if so is it any good??
Also can anyone tell me what length of wrap i will need to do the downpipe??
Cheers
Andy

Thermotec is good stuff compared to the cost of ceramic coating. A 50ftx2 roll should do the whole downpipe. Make sure you wear gloves and apply it wet (its easier and you'll itch like hell without gloves). Make sure you use the heat wrap spray to give it some longevity.
Also make sure you use some wirelock and put some every 10 cms or so as that will keep the wrap together when it gets brittle. Don't expect it to be permenant though as it will need doing again at some point.
Oh and when you first fire the car up or whenever the downpipe gets wet it will smoke, steam and stink which is perfectly normal. For the cost it's certainly worth doing to keep temps down and the hot gasses flowing.

Remember if the downpipe is 2.5" the circumference is about 8" per wrap, if 3" it's about 9.5" per wrap (and the downpipe is wider at the turbo end). Then you need to overlap by about half an inch, so it doesn't go as far as you think.
