Default Puzzleedd...Help please!

Hi All, Have been having some problems with my car. It happens every so often but doesnt seemed to be linked to when its hot or cold. When you try pull away it chugs up and down and can barely move. As you change gears it still chuggs around until (if it manages too) around 4K it just goes like a bat out of hell.
I have replaced idle speed control valve and throttle body position switch and everything comes up fine on a diagnostics. Im just stumped at what it could be? It happened today after i hadnt used it for a day but even after being warm still barely made it to work! any ideas would be much appreciated! thanks jamie

What type and year of car, and what sort of "diagnostics" does it come up fine on - real Subaru Select Monitor, crappy eBay OBD tool or something in between?

Obvious suspect would be the coilpack on those. Before you buy one speculatively though it'd be worth you fronting up at a Subaru dealership and asking them to diagnose your car. Select Monitor generates a lot more information than a generic tool like your friend's.

Phone your local one up and ask them. Some would do it for bog all on the basis that they might be able to sell you some parts afterwards. Some might charge you £30 or £40. Give it a try and see if you get lucky.
