Default What is possible???

hi guys

recently purchased a wrx sti acropolis rally special and have done a few things to it being big front mount, k&n induction, 3" decat turbo back system, 255 fuel pump, rodger clark oil pump and general maintenance (rocker cover gaskets etc, etc. Any way had it dynoed last sat and was running 331.8 bhp which was happy with but since then have changed coil packs as was missing and snapped driveshaft in half , very cleanly might i add, which is being replaced tomorrow. I am still running a standard tdo5 16g running 0.85 boost and was wondering what is the maximum i can get out of the turbo/engine, was thinking of running 1.0 bar of boost and then get it mapped. Is this going to be plausable on existing mods or not. Also am i right in thinking that it is quite a big power increase on those mods as the standard bhp is 250 bhp ? Hopefully someone can help me with some information and correct me if i have my facts muddled up.

p.s anyone ever snapped a driveshaft common/uncommon/faulty?

any advice apreciated james

Would you not up the boost while mapping it to see if it makes any difference? You could up it to 1.1 bar and find you get max power at 13psi the therefore you are putting everything under undue stress for no reason.. I snapped both rear drive shafts on a V2 sti in the past both at the same time lol and drove around for a week in just fwd....

.85 boost and 331.8 bhp

You're not going to get much more without changing the turbo, and you definitely need bigger injectors than the 380's OEM.

Get a later STi map sensor and you can run more boost. I run 1.4 and probably have a similar bhp 'claim'.

yeah i didnt think i would get much more out of standard turbo and injectors. What turbo would be a good upgrade for another 50 bhp as i dont really want to go any higher yet, also injector size preference what size. when you say a map sensor off of a newer MY what MY would be best ? thanks for the help guys just rying to get as much info as i can

cheers

Do you have dyno charts of this?

Be interested to see where the peak power rpm is for that 331bhp

If this isn't remapped I am not surprised it's got issues, missing or otherwise.

Injectors you want 550's+ for 50 on top of 330 turbo wise I guess 18g. Personally I would remap on bigger injectors and a 99STi map sensor and see what happens. I would find it frankly miraculous if your car was safely producing 330 in any shape or form that was sustainable or pleasurable to drive.

looking at the graph not on pc rather than mobile earlier I would guess that is not the standard turbo.. it spools very late and then goes on to make reasonable power..

if it were a leak in exhaust or intercooler or a turbo issue to cause the late spool it wouldn't have made the power..

Is it still on the grey standard injectors?

It needs further investigation and checking over..

needs looking at as 380cc injectors will not flow enough fuel for that power and why so laggy.. is it that laggy on the road?

Looks like it ran lean at the top and as a result made more power than was safe and detted.

The lag looks like a supra with a gt42 on it...
