Not sure about the earlier models but for the version 5/6 sti the saloon weighs1300 kgs, with the wagon 70 kgs heavier giving roughly 212 bhp per tonne.

Uk classic from the same year 1235 kgs for the saloon, with the sportswagon 1306 kgs giving the saloon 174 bhp per tonne & 159 bhp per tonne for the wagon

depends how mad and extream you want to go with saving weight and money spending.. plastic windows will save loads but not overly practical for a road car carbon or fiber glass panels will lose a bit but can be very expensive..

Newage wrx (215 bhp)weighs in at 1385 kgs for the saloon and 1410 kgs for the estate giving 155 bhp per tonne for the saloon and 152 bhp for the estate.

Newage sti weighs in same as the wrx estate(1410 kgs) and around 190 bhp per tonne

Not necessarily,if you got the cash for an sti then go for it ,but if you buy a wrx ,then have a remap, and a few decent mods ,then the standard tdo4 can be good for 280 - 300 bhp, with a noticeable increase in torque.

Late classic wrx`s are rated at the same 280ps as the sti.
