Default STi fuel pump question

Does anyone know the flow rate of a standard 04 STi fuel pump? Also, what BHP would the standard one be good for? I've decided to start planing my power mods.

Thanks, Rich.

Any decent power and you'll need to change pump. PPP (300bhp) for this car is supplied with a Walbro. AFAIK the standard pump is probably just OK for 300bhp which won't do for a remap (expect 330bhp ish).

The standard pump flows more than 300bhp.. with standard pump there is enough fuel to get as much possible out of the standard turbo.. however that is if it is running 100%.. car is now 5years old and therefore for the sake of the price of a walbro pump and an hour to fit then worth doing.

Thanks for the advice guys. Good point also JGM, a new Walbro is around £60 so probably worth it for the piece of mind. I'm hoping to go to 350 bhp, but not sure if I'll get there while keeping the standard air box, top IC and prodrive sports cat.

The standard turbo is basically 340bhp turbo.. some make more, some make less..

you will be suitably impressed over standard for once you get her mapped up anyway.

I've heard good things about standard cars being remapped, so a modified one should be more entertaining.

I'll settle for 340 (for now!). Next stage is to look into injectors and remap options. I think 2010 may be an expensive year.

I found out today during mapping @ Engine Tuner that my car still had a standard pump (MY04 STi) in and it made 440bhp, we had suspisions that all was not well as the 800cc injectors were maxed out so the boys took the pump out to put a bigger one in and found a standard one!! This was meant to have been upgraded by the previous owner but obviously wasnt!!!

JDm sti standard fuel pump flows at 150/L while the aftermarket sti pump with surge tank from the sti catalogue flows at 180/L.

Monkeyboy, a few years ago I had a Subaru dealer fit PPP to my STi, at a later date when modding it was discovered they left the standard fuel pump in (having charged for supply and fitting of uprated one). When I complained they stonewalled me so I took them to court and won. In court (they strung it out all the way to see if I would give up) Subaru UK admitted that they must have supplied a standard pump with the PPP to the dealer although I still doubt this. Your previous owner may have genuinely believed his pump was upgraded.

Sc0oby, thanks for the info. It's very useful to know what standard kit gives you.

Rich,

I fitted a JDM STi pump to my WRX when it was mapped.

There where no issues and it was cheaper than a Walbro . but yours is a UK STi and may just need a boost.

I think you're right about it needing a boost.
I've been looking into it, the STi seems to have 550 injectors already, so a pump upgrade is on the list.

I'm going to buy the all upgrades, fit and remap in one step, rather than doing it as a piecemeal approach.
