Default Will this boost my 2 liter STI properly?

Hi!

Did some reading here about the SC46. Looks like a fine turbo te me!

Can anyone tell me if that turbo, or maybe the SC46 XTR, will blow nice on my dutch 2003 STI?

I have fitted the following mods:

2.0 semi closed deck block
Deadbolt TD05H20G
Perrin Signature FMIC
Perrin fuel rail
Perrin Big MAF
Apexi air filter
Invidia 3” exhaust
GT Spec headers
PE 650 cc
HKS dumpvalve
Apexi AVC-R
Ecutek reflash

Mocal oilcooler
Oil catch tank

Redline 7800

Driving on 1.5/1.6 boost. No upgraded internals.

Can I have a driveable car with this turbo? I don't drag, I sometimes do circuit, I just love to go fast on bendy roads.

When will I have 1 bar boost?

And what can I achieve when boosting 1.5/1.6 on my engine?

What will crack first when pushing it to hard?

The SC46 is already in business, the SC46 XTR aint, if I'm correct.

Dont think they have tested this one yet though, I would like to see some comparisons with it against the 20G and 321H TBH, just to see which one rules all in the 400BHP (or there abouts) sector

i have an sc46 on my classic with a 2.1 and i would say with your avcs heads you will get a very nice very fast driveable car.

i am getting 1 bar of boost at around 3.9k reaching full boost 1.8 bar by 4.0k. i'm 100% sure with avcs heads you should get boost at around or just after 3k.

one thing i will say about this turbo is that it's an animal once on boost mine reaches the red line before it drops from 1.8bar.

i went for the turbo myself because i wanted something differend to the md series, when i reasearched it not only was it cheaper but it slightly out performed the md on spool/boost.

a fairer comparison will be md321T vs sc46 as both are aimed at 450bhp,however also work well on 2l with avcs heads.the 20G and 321h will outspool sc46

their was a thread on here ages ago about turbo's (one of many i know) also if you have a look via google.

they guy who built my engine and raced it last year was running a md so it's a fair comparrison on my engine (not saying all engines are the same)

if you know jp4 on here ask him to let you have a copy of his dyno graph he was running 420bhp and reaching 400flb by 3.5k i think if memory serves me correct on his wr1. standard block with a fmic, induction kit and a solaris.

hope it answers your question although i see your running a s206 i have thought about looking into one of those for next year

amazing turbo i think you should give it a try makes a lovely sound in all
a 20G made 419bhp on my sti4 with meth and i was seen full boost at about 3500 in 3rd gear iirc. and i had no avcs heads the sc46 is a 450 to 460 turbo thats why i think a 20G and md321h will out spool every time bare in mind they are both 380 to 400 bhp turbo. what has sc46 made on your car Ting tong PJ?

Party on dude i think you should look at S206, sc46 and and an md321T the S206 made 460 bhp on harrys car the md321T always makes 450bhp and a bit more on some cars the sc46 seems like a good turbo but to be frank i dont know much about yet.

4th 5th and 6th i am getting spool up at around 3.4k with the sc46.

is answer to your question mus i'm not 100% sure it went on the rollers a couple of weeks ago but boost was all over the place and only peaked at 1.5bar (just fitting a oil catch can, oil got into the boost solenoid) it only managed 405.5bhp and just under 370flb on v-power.
dissapointed with the result but at least i know thats when it's running badly and should be running 1.8bar constant.
i'm hoping when it's running right it should be around 420bhp on v-power but i've decided to go for a e85 map as well and see what that does once i get it mapped again.

WRX RA heads

It made 1bar at 3900rpm on the rollers, but makes full boost at 3800rpm on the road according to my AVCR

Ting Tong PJ-nice figures there it would be intresting to see how it well do with more boost and 20% meth or E85 im sure you will see well over 450.

anger - 450/410 1.6 bar with wrx heads is bloody good have you had the heads ported?

anger those are great figures, 1 bar on the road is very similar to mine although i'm running v4 sti standard heads.

mus it's my plan after christmas to go with something other than v-power, i'm probably going to go via the e85 route as its easier than measuring meth and with the simtek i have two maps.

can someone confirm slightly off topic i know am i better going the e85 route for more power or the meth route ?

your going to love either of them as the car wont feel the same. You wil have to check with your mapper i think they are the same e85 is cheaper and easier on the envoriment. You will need bigger injectors how much are you planning to run?

i don't know what i could achieve if i could get to around 450 i'd be happy although it's how it drives that i'm most interested in.

have 740 injectors so i hope they would be man enough.

i've looked as you can buy e85 from some morrisons and it's cheaper than v power.

Im also using 740 injectors with fpr a tad over 500bhp and still have some head room, PJ if you are going to run E85 I believe you will need bigger injectors but again check with mapper and I think if your run 40% you will be well over 450bhp

yes got to have a chat with jgm in early jan.

i have a fpr fitted as well, they guy who does all my work is running e85 and is well over 500hp on 740 injectors and a fpr.

when i set out i wanted to have a 400bhp car and that would be enough, trouble is you get bored after driving it a few times and the bug bites back again.

thats the problem with these cars when i first bought my type r i was like stage one 330bhp will be enough got used to it, then the quest to 400bhp started and that is an expensive one clutch and gearbox murderd me now at 500bhp and its too much fun and im ready to sell a kidney for 600bhp lol but i think thats for another project and proberly for next year.
