Hi i am new to Subaru's and wonder if any1 can help, I was driving about 30 MPH and suddenly i got a thump noise which sounded as if it was coming from the gear box or engine, i stopped the car and started it again and the noise had gone, i have been told i will need a new clutch soon and wondered if that could be the reason for the noise, please help

one thump or many (rythmic)?

 

its a 2000 v plate and it seems to be a single thump, thanks
